Culturally Situated Design Tool: The Dance Choreography Tool
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents the design of the Culturally Situated Design Tool (CSDT) known as the Dance Choreography Tool. The Dance Tool was created as a supplementary educational aid for high school students to learn the basics of computer programming by scripting dance moves for a 3D avatar. Even though there are other methods of teaching computer programming, the dance tool will increase motivation in learning programming by providing an environment that encourages creativity and diversity while focusing on the logic behind computer programming. By increasing the interest of computer programming on a high school level, the dance tool will also help solve the problem with the decline of people entering the field of computer science in undergraduate and graduate school.

Process Choreographies in Service-oriented Environments
Service choreographies have been put forward as new viewpoint in service-oriented design. They are especially relevant for business-to-business (B2B) integration and describe the interaction behavior of a set of collaborating services from a global perspective. These global interaction models are then used for generating interface processes for each service which in turn is the starting point f...
متن کاملCoChoreo: A Generative Feature in iDanceForms for Creating Novel Keyframe Animation for Choreography
Choreography is an embodied and complex creative process that often relies on ‘co-imagining’ as a strategy in generating new movement ideas. Technology has historically been used as a tool to augment creative opportunities in choreographic process, with multiple choreographic support tools designed to function as a ‘blank slate’ for choreography. However, few of these tools support creative aut...
متن کامل“the Right Move” – a Concept for a Video-based Choreography Tool
In the context of a proposed project for a video-based choreography tool, we carry out video acquisition experiments with a Sony DCR-VX2000 camcorder that operates at 25 frames/sec and a high-speed HCC1000 video camera with adjustable frame rates. We perform tests with frame rates up to 462 frames/sec and observe that the performance of the Kanade-Lucas-Tomasi tracking algorithm improves signif...
متن کاملApplications of Computers to Dance
f all the art forms, dance has probably been the slowest to adopt technology. In part, this reflects the reluctance of dancers and choreographers to let anything get between them and the live kinesthetic experience. But it also reflects the fact that useful tools have been slow to develop in a market with limited commercial opportunity. Probably the first article suggesting the application of c...
متن کاملWeb Service Choreography Verification Using Z Formal Specification
Web Service Choreography Description Language (WS-CDL) describes and orchestrates the services interactions among multiple participants. WS-CDL verification is essential since the interactions would lead to mismatches. Existing works verify the messages ordering, the flow of messages, and the expected results from collaborations. In this paper, we present a Z specification of WS-CDL. Besides ve...
